A job in HomePulse is one construction project. The areas, the selections, the schedule, the client portal, the purchase orders and the inspections all belong to a job.
Where to find it
Jobs is your home screen. When you sign in you land on the jobs list, for an overview of where everything currently sits. New Job is at the top right.
What you enter
Job name. Usually the client surname and the suburb, or your internal job number, or both. Use one convention consistently, because this is what you search on later and it is what appears at the top of your client's portal.
Start date and completion date. The contract dates. The start date drives schedule forecasting once you have tasks on the job, so it is worth entering even when it is provisional.
Site address, entered as separate fields: lot number, street number, two address lines, suburb, state and postcode. Fill this in properly, because it becomes the default delivery address on every purchase order you raise for the job.
You attach the client afterwards from the job Summary, which is covered in Adding your client to a job along with sending their portal login.
What happens next
The job opens on the Summary tab. Across the top is the job tab strip: Summary, Selection Settings, Chosen Selections, Purchase Orders, Notes, Tasks, Variations, Inspections, Attachments and Messages. That strip stays with you on every job screen.
The Summary page itself has three regions:
Details, on the left, holds your client, address and dates.
Activity, in the middle, logs what has happened on the job.
Issues, Tasks and Selections, on the right, your at-a-glance status on whether anything needs attention.
On a brand new job each of these will start empty and populate as you begin to work on the job.
Putting structure into the job
If you have templates built, load them now. Go to Selection Settings for your area, selection and item templates, then Tasks for your task template. Each type loads slightly differently and the order matters on item and task templates, so Cloning templates into a job is worth reading once before your first job.
If you do not have templates yet, build this job manually with Setting up selections on a job. When it is set up the way you like it, that structure becomes the basis of your first template.
What to do next
Setting up selections on a job if you are building this one by hand, or Cloning templates into a job if you have templates ready.
